Dysport is a brand name for AbobotulinumtoxinA, a neurotoxin that blocks messages between the muscles and the nerves that control them.  AbobotulinumtoxinA can relax the muscles on areas of the face and neck that cause wrinkles associated with facial expressions.

Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults.  One injection into each of 5 points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of the face to move naturally.  In other words, no frozen look, just natural-looking results.

With Dysport you can enjoy a more youthful appearance while maintaining a natural expression.

 

Fillers

Teosyal RHA is a wrinkle filler product based on hyaluronic acid designed to support the skin in every move, while helping to preserve the natural vitality and softness of your face.

Dermal fillers are used for treatment of facial creases, wrinkles, folds, contour defects, scars, facial loss of fat, and enhancement purposes.  These treatments involve multiple injections of filler into or below the skin to fill wrinkles, lips and restore volume.  The effects of dermal fillers are temporary.

 

Common Questions and Answers

Do these sorts of treatments hurt?

Any treatment that is being injected is going to have some discomfort.  We inject with the finest insulin needle. Some people don’t really feel anything, and some people say it can feel like little “bee stings” more so around the eye area. If you are relaxed it will hurt less.

With lip fillers we do a nerve block into your gums which makes the procedure completely pain free.

 

Are there any possible side effects with Dysport?

With the abobotulinumtoxinA you may get a little bruising at the site of the injections.  Some people may get a headache for a few hours afterwards.  Another symptom is flu-like symptoms but no one Dr Bob Yang has injected has suffered from this.

 

Will my face look frozen after Dysport?

Looking “frozen” comes from over-injection.  You will usually be somewhat frozen to start off with (couple weeks after injection) but it will gradually wear off and you will regain some movement.  With injectables, it is very similar.  If they are done correctly, you will look fresher and relaxed.

 

How often will I need to have my treatment topped up?

We advise if you have never had abobotulinumtoxinA to top up 2 – 3 months initially.  From there it is usually every 3 – 4 months but after regular treatments you can push this out longer to about every 6 months.

With Fillers you need to top up about every 3 months until you are at what we call a baseline.  From there, you will top up about every 4-6 months.  Fillers can last anywhere between 6 months and a max of 2 years.

 

Are there any benefits to start treatment younger?

This is an option completely up to you.  Starting in your mid 30’s, you will definitely benefit from a refreshing enhancement.  40+ you will still benefit and see a difference from treatments.

 

What can be done for my upper lip lines, also known as “smokers lines”?

Upper lip lines, “smokers lines”, are some of the hardest wrinkles to treat. This occurs even in non-smokers and is mostly a volume related problem. Best treatments include filler and adding Dysport in small amounts can help too. Don’t expect elimination, just improvement.

 

Are lip fillers irreversible?

The most common dermal fillers used in lip augmentations are made of hyaluronic acid, and are totally reversible.
